Like many good cooks, Justise fell in love with cooking from spending time in the kitchen with her grandmothers and mother. The smell of fried chicken cooked in lard still beckons some of her earliest, most sacred food memories.

Justise has been with the Vivian Howard Restaurant Group for almost a decade, starting in pastry at Chef & the Farmer while working her way to executive sous chef. Soon, she will open Handy & Hot Bakeshop – a hand pie-centric concept with healthy breakfast options and lunch favorites –  in partnership with Vivian and Ben Knight. There, Justise will continue to explore the relationship between sweet and savory, a combination that always inspires her, with the same quality ingredients and creativity we have come to expect from Chef & the Farmer.
